Collection: Construction pumps
Site pumps are made for long running times in sandy and dirty water. Look for jacket cooling to empty a pit, an agitator for sludge and sand, and whether 400 V is available on site.

Which construction pump suits your situation?
On a building site you rarely pump clean water. There is sand, silt or concrete residue in it, and the pump has to run for hours or days on end. That calls for something other than a small cellar pump: a wear-resistant pump with a cooling jacket that keeps running even when the water level drops.
What to look for
- Abrasive water. Sand and silt grind the impeller away. Choose a pump with a wear-resistant impeller and base plate, and check that those parts can be replaced separately — at service time that saves you a new pump.
- Agitator head. A pump with an agitator head keeps the sand moving and does not suck itself stuck on the bottom of the excavation. For dewatering and trenches that is the difference between pumping on and standing still.
- Cooling jacket. The pumped water cools the motor through a jacket, so the pump can run continuously even at a low water level — exactly what dewatering demands.
- 230 or 400 volt. Up to roughly 1 kW, 230 V is enough. Above that you need three-phase power; count on a CEE connection and possibly a motor protection plug.
- Flow rate at your actual head. The maximum flow rate applies at zero back pressure. Work out your duty point with the pump calculator.
For clean or lightly contaminated water, see the clean water pumps. If the last of the water has to come off a flat floor, the flat-suction pumps are the right choice. Not sure? Use the pump selector or call +31 85 210 08 97 and we will work it out with you.
